Gain the analytical skills necessary for understanding and solving complex economic problems. You will learn to assess economic theories and explain economic behaviour with the use of data and empirical tests.
The Economics program introduces students to economic thinking and prepares them for intelligent consideration of contemporary economic issues in a variety of national and international markets (product, labour, capital etc.). Economic problems emerge from the conflict between apparently limitless human demand for goods and services and a limited supply of resources for satisfying this demand. Courses in the program offer students the chance to explore both to the wide range of individual and social problems that emerge from this conflict, and to the distinctive economic approach to their solution. Economic theory provides students with the analytical background necessary for comprehending and solving economic problems. The empirical aspect of the course work provides a foundation for improving existing theories and for distinguishing between competing theories.
