Communication Studies

Bachelor of Arts (BA), International Bachelor of Arts (iBA)

Work Experience Study Abroad Double Major

Explore the character and development of today's diverse media and communication landscape, focusing on media's social implications and how they shape how we see and understand the world.

Program Information

The Communication Studies program is organized around three main themes: media, culture, and society; critical technology studies; and politics and policy. Courses explore the social and cultural implications of media systems, theories and methods to analyze communication processes, and changes in communication technologies as they relate to economic, political, and social developments. Your studies will provide you with new skills in communication analysis and in-depth knowledge of the increasingly complex field of communication as it pertains to issues related to cultures, politics, identity, governance, communities and society in general. While the emphasis is on developing critical and analytical perspectives on communication rather than vocational training, the program helps build skills and knowledge central to professional practice and community engagement.
